Updates for December 2024

December - The new sapping season starts in late winter; typically from mid-March to mid-April in most maple-syrup producing areas, when temperatures are below freezing at night and above freezing during the day. Tours usually begin in early Spring! That's a great time to visit a maple sugar orchard or sugarworks and see a sugaring demonstration; watch them make maple syrup!

Where are Maple Syrup farms/orchards/sugarworks, etc.? Well, they're not in Hawaii or Florida, for sure. They are concentrated in the northeast and upper midwest in the US and the eastern half of Canada, even though maple trees do grow in the northwest. That's why the areas below (in states outside of the Northeast and Midwest) have no listings! Although, there is research to develop trees that can produce sap/syrup in warmed climates.

  NYS Maple Weekends ( Celebrate the maple syrup season with free samples of fresh maple syrup, sugarhouse tours, demonstrations and horse-drawn wagon rides. This fun family event draws big crowds every year, especially those who want to try special items like maple cotton candy and maple soft serve ice cream.
  Event date and time: multiple dates, see their website.  Our annual NY Maple Open House Weekends are on! Here at Parker's, its an all-maple festival around the sugarhouse with wagon rides, tours and demonstrations of the processes to make maple syrup and confections with free samples of fresh, delicious maple products! Maple cotton candy, maple soft serve ice cream, milkshakes and homemade maple donuts are available for these weekends only in the sugarhouse. Take home some maple syrup, cream, candy or other specialty maple products from our sugarhouse shop while visiting. We will also have our popular pancake house open for all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8am to 1pm serving a wide array of fresh, hot breakfast items (see our Pancake Breakfast event page for for details).
